| The top of the vase is attached to the blowpipe. When the body of the vase is fully blown out and shaped, I transfer the vase to a solid pipe called a punti. First I put a foot of clear glass on the bottom of the vase and use my jacks to flatten it. Then I attach the punti to the base. The blowpipe is detached from the top of the vase with a sharp tap. | ||

| Next I use tweezers to pull out the neck and lip of the vase. I use the jacks to shape the neck and flare out the lip, then smooth it. | ||
